| THE TRUST: A PUBLIC ENTITY POOL | |
|
The
Trust is a not-for-profit corporation established pursuant to A.R.S. Section
11-952.01, and is operated under the provisions of Title 10 of the Arizona
Revised Statutes. The Trust is required to submit annual financial and
actuarial reports to the Department of Insurance and is examined once every three years by the Department. The Trust has met all obligations
established by the Department of Insurance. The
Trust was created in 1986 to provide protection and service to
Arizona's public school districts. To this end
the Trust has managed
over 18,000 claims. The average total incurred cost per claim
has been $5,843. When re-insurance recoveries are factored into
the average the net incurred cost is reduced to just over $5,400 per
claim.
While providing this excellent level of claim performance the Trust has continued to build its assets to over $59,000,000 at January 1, 2004. This has allowed the Trust to maintain its financial independence while at the same time developing long term business relationships with reinsurers. The financial strength of the Trust, and the strength of its reinsurers allows the Trust to provide coverage and limits of liability not available from private insurance alternatives. The partnership between the Trust and its reinsurers has been developed solely for the benefit of Arizona's public schools. Click here for a list of reinsurers.
